Steps to join a “Pistol Club” and gain your Concealable Firearms Licence (H Category)
Category H
A concealable firearms licence allows you to possess and use air pistols, centre-fire pistols, black powder or rim-fire pistols (category H) that are under 75cm in length. Follow these steps to guide you through the process.
- Call the friendly staff at Cairns Shooters Supplies on (07) 4052 1911 or drop by the store at 205 Draper St, Parramatta Park QLD 4870 and book your Safety Course for Category H and pay the fee.
- The next step is do you have a firearms licence in another category? (If No then move to step 3 and if yes move to step 6)
- Google search “QPS 0515 statement of eligibility” fill in the form and print it.
- Take this filled-in form to your local police station with identification as outlined on it. Sign the form in front of the officer who will then forward it to Weapons Licencing.
- Wait until you receive a statement in the mail that allows you to join a pistol club.
- Download and print a “Cairns Inner Circle Shooters Club Membership Application Form” from here CICSC-Application
- Once you have filled out the membership application form and printed it, come and see the staff at Cairns Shooters Supplies. 205 Draper St, Parramatta Park QLD 4870 to join and pay your membership.
- Once you are a member of a pistol club, you have to be a member for a minimum of 6 months and 1 day before you can apply for your H Category Licence.
- In this time, or during the 6 months directly before applying for your licence, you must complete 3 competition shoots – signed on your participation card. (On joining the Cairns Inner Circle Shooters Club you will receive a club membership card with your members number as well as a Participation Card (example below).
- After being a member of the club for over the required 6 months and 1 day and having completed a minimum of 3 competition shoots you can request the club provide you with a QP-0518 Form Club Declaration. The form is a declaration from the club that you have met the stated requirements above.
- Now you have your H Category safety certificate, Participation Record and QP0158 Club Declaration you can apply for your Category H Licence.
- Finally, with the above and a copy of your Identification fill in the online application for a concealable firearm at the Weapons Licencing website CLICK HERE
